To comply with the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 (Part 2, Section 11)- The employer must provide adequate plans and procedures to be followed and measures to be taken in the case of emergency, or serious and imminent danger such as fire. The employer must also designate employees who are required to implement these plans, procedures etc. These employees are known as fire wardens and the employer must ensure that all designated employees have adequate training and equipment available to them.

Course Goals
- Identify possible fire hazards in the workplace
- Assist in the fire risk assessment process
- Understand how fires can occur and how fire and smoke can spread
- Identify the correct type of fire equipment for the class of fire
- Identify if your premises are equipped with appropriate fire alarms, detectors, emergency lighting and fire-fighting equipment
- Ensure fire equipment is inspected and maintained as necessary
- Advise staff on measures to reduce the risk of fire occurring, and on action to take in the event of an emergency
